🧮 How to Use the Zakat & Sadaqah Calculator

Welcome to the Zakat & Sadaqah Calculator! This tool helps Muslims calculate their Zakat on wealth, livestock, and gold/silver in line with Islamic principles. Below are detailed steps on how to use each section of the calculator:

💰 Zakat Calculation:

Zakat is an obligatory form of charity in Islam, calculated as 2.5% of a Muslim's wealth.

  1. Enter Your Total Wealth: Input your total wealth (cash, savings, investments, etc.) in the currency of your choice.
  2. Enter Your Debts: If you have debts, subtract them from your total wealth to calculate the net wealth.
  3. Calculate Your Zakat: The tool will automatically calculate your Zakat due (2.5% of net wealth).

Example:

  • Total Wealth: $10,000
  • Debt Amount: $2,000
  • Zakat Due: $200 (2.5% of $8,000)

🧑‍🌾 Livestock Zakat:

For livestock, Zakat is due on cows, buffaloes, sheep, and goats based on their number.

  • For Cows/Buffaloes: Zakat is due for every 30 cows, with one cow due as Zakat.
  • For Sheep/Goats: Zakat is due for every 40 sheep or goats, with one sheep or goat due as Zakat.

Example:

  • 60 Cows → 2 cows Zakat
  • 100 Sheep → 2 sheep Zakat

💰 Gold & Silver Zakat:

Zakat is due on gold and silver if the amount exceeds the Nisab threshold:

  • Gold Nisab: 85 grams
  • Silver Nisab: 595 grams

Example:

  • Gold: 100 grams → Zakat Due: 2.5% of 100 grams = 2.5 grams
  • Silver: 600 grams → Zakat Due: 2.5% of 600 grams = 15 grams
